22 products

Little Giants

Compact machines, stackable into a tower, for small to medium daily volumes.

Benchmark

Higher capacity, programmable controls and network connectivity for intensive commercial use.

Barrier (pass-through)

Pass-through hygiene washing machines that separate the soiled and clean sides.

How to choose

Choosing the right commercial washing machine is not only about drum size. The daily volume of textiles, the available operating time, the type of textiles, the required number of cycles and matching drying capacity together determine which machine really fits your operation.

The Miele Professional washing machines below offer solutions for different capacities and professional applications. Ask for help if you would like to choose a machine based on your total daily laundry requirement.

What capacity do you need?

A machine that is too small can mean many cycles and unnecessary operator time. A machine that is too large, on the other hand, is not necessarily economical at low utilisation. That is why capacity must be determined based on total daily textile throughput.

  • How many kilograms of textiles are generated per day or per shift?
  • How much time is available to process the full daily volume?
  • What textiles do you process: bed linen, towels, workwear, mops or mixed loads?
  • How much reserve capacity is needed for peak periods?
  • What drying capacity is available or needed alongside?

Guide by capacity

When making the final choice, the kg figure must always be interpreted together with the cycle time and the daily operating time.

Capacity rangeTypical use
Compact professional machinesSmaller footprint, frequent cycles, small to medium daily volume.
Medium capacityContinuous commercial use, larger daily textile volume.
High capacityDedicated laundry process, higher daily volume and a need for fewer cycles.
Extra-high capacityLarger hotel, institutional or in-house laundry projects.

What will you use the commercial washing machine for?

Choose your washing machine as part of a system

In a well-run laundry, the washing machine is not a stand-alone investment. Drying and, where needed, finishing capacity must keep pace with washing. If the washing machines produce wet textiles faster than the dryers can process them, the whole process slows down.

That is why, when selecting machines, we look not only at which washing machine fits and what its load weight is, but also at what capacity the entire workflow requires. Commercial dryers

When choosing a commercial washing machine, it is worth looking at the entire life cycle. Besides the purchase price, what matters is daily throughput, energy and water consumption, availability, ease of maintenance and how well the machine fits into the overall laundry system. A correctly sized professional washing machine is not necessarily the largest model, but the one that can process the required volume within the available time, with an adequate reserve.

If you currently use an external laundry service, with larger and continuous textile volumes it is worth examining the economics of an on-premises laundry. The benefit of an on-premises laundry is not only cost: faster textile turnaround, more operational control and less dependence on logistics can also be important factors.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a commercial and a household washing machine?

In a professional environment, the machine is selected based on the daily workload, the required cycle time, capacity, programmes and long-term serviceability together. It is not simply a matter of a larger drum.

What size commercial washing machine should I choose?

The daily volume in kg, the available washing time, the type of textiles and the reserve capacity required must be considered together.

What size dryer is needed alongside a commercial washing machine?

You need a drying capacity that does not slow down the whole process after washing. The number of wash cycles and the drying time must be sized together.

What does kg capacity mean for a professional washing machine?

The nominal load weight alone does not describe daily throughput. Based on the cycle time and the daily operating hours available, you need to estimate how many kilograms of textiles a given machine can actually process during a shift.

Should the decision be based on purchase price alone?

No. Operating costs, capacity utilisation, maintenance and the total life-cycle cost are also part of the decision.

Not sure which machine you need?

A few basic details are enough for an initial assessment of the right capacity: what textiles or dishes you process, in what quantity, how many hours a day you operate, how much space is available and which utilities are on site.
